From a GitHub repo to the currency powering the agentic economy. This is how it happened.

🧠 It Started With a Problem

Agents couldn't remember.

In mid-2025, Alex Newman was trying to get AI agents to talk to each other. The vision: an agency of AI workers doing real web work. But there was a problem — every time agents had a conversation, they'd forget everything. No continuity. No learning. No progress.

Claude Code had way more tokens at 1/20th the price. If memory could work there, agents could actually collaborate. So Alex started building.

The Thesis: Agents without memory are just expensive autocomplete. Agents with memory become economic participants — they can learn, build reputation, and do real work over time.

Six months of iteration. Progressive disclosure, semantic search, automatic context injection. Making agents actually remember.
Fall 2025
Organic growth
Word spreads. Developers find claude-mem, try it, love it. 16,000+ GitHub stars accumulate.
December 9, 2025
Product Hunt launch
claude-mem goes on Product Hunt. That weekend, everything blows up. The whole week is chaos — in a good way.
January 6, 2026
$CMEM is born on bags.fm
Someone sees claude-mem's popularity and creates $CMEM on bags.fm. Alex gets 1% creator fees. He locks 4.2069% for 6.9420 months and starts reinvesting in the ecosystem.

bags.fm explodes
Ralph, Moltbook, OpenClaw — the AI agent ecosystem goes crazy. People make art. Agents start having tokens. This is the moment.
February 2026
Crab-Mem launches
The transparency layer goes live. crab-mem.sh, cmem.ai, bounty system. Building in public begins.

🎒 What is bags.fm?

bags.fm is a platform for launching creator tokens on Solana. When someone saw claude-mem blowing up on Product Hunt, they created $CMEM through bags.fm — essentially "bagging" the project.

This is how many AI creator tokens start: the community recognizes value before the creator launches anything. bags.fm has become ground zero for the AI agent token explosion — Ralph, Moltbook, and dozens of other agent projects have tokens there.

The 1% Creator Fee: Alex receives 1% of all $CMEM trading fees. These fees are reinvested directly into the claude-mem ecosystem — bounties, development, infrastructure. The token funds its own growth.
